Exhibition Overview
B.I.T.E (Barbados Invitational Tennis Exhibition) with the backing of the Barbados Tennis Association (BTA) is aiming to create an event with a professional yet fun atmosphere, by capturing and infusing the essence of the Caribbean light-hearted & laid-back way of life. “Tennis pon de rock” is a charitable event aimed at raising funds for the betterment of all Barbadian Children, through sports – specifically Tennis. Working in conjunction with the Barbados Tennis Association’s school programme, it is our Goal to open the doors of opportunity for all children and what better way to do so, than through a sport we love, Tennis.
It is our aim, not only to host a first class event for spectators, instead to host an event where the emphasis is on the enjoyment of both the spectators and the players, as we believe player participation & enjoyment is paramount to the continued success of “Tennis pon de rock”
The exhibition is scheduled for November 28th & 29th , over a two day period, where the first day will be for general admission and held at the Gymnasium Complex, an indoor facility with a seating capacity of 3700 persons. The second day will be a full VIP hospitality day, hosted at the beautiful Sugar Hill Tennis Resort. The venue is set amongst a luxury development on the prestigious West Coast of Barbados and will host no more than 500 persons for an all-inclusive hospitality event. Following the days fixtures, there will be a cocktail party for the players and guests hosted in the lounge/pool area at Sugar Hill.

Charitable Beneficiaries
The Barbados Tennis Association:
Tennis is a sport which can be enjoyed by all regardless of age, ability, gender or social background. In Barbados, it is now accessible to more individuals through the Schools Tennis Initiative Development Programme in primary schools and programmes at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey, St. Michael.
Being a non-profit organization and the Council or Executive consisting of volunteers, the Association is dependant on the Government of Barbados, the Barbados Olympic Association, the International Tennis Federation and the private sector for financial assistance, in addition to its members to assist with projects and programmes.
Schools Tennis Initiative Development Programme
This Programme was initiated to not only create a greater exposure to the game of Tennis, but to act as a catalyst for the betterment of children in Barbados. Sports have been shown to not only be great for the body, your health and to sharpen the mind, but sports also creates discipline and plays a roll in developing personality. Through the School Programme, it is the goal of the BTA and B.I.T.E to provide children all the opportunities associated with playing sports, such as scholarship. Please visit: www.TennisBarbados.org
Charitable Beneficiaries
“Friends of Haydn Lewis Trust”
The “Friends of Haydn Lewis Trust” was established to assist and manage the ongoing process of securing funding to support Haydn’s bid to become a world class tennis player. “Friends” consists of a group of dedicated successful business men, with a passion for Tennis and a belief in Haydn’s abilities.
Haydn Lewis has been Barbados’ No. 1 ranked player for the past few years and achieved a highest ranking of 530 on the ATP rankings. Haydn currently trains with Peter Smith, at the Peter Smith Tennis Academy in Adelaide, Australia where he spends most of his time training and playing the Australian circuit. Special mention must be given to Peter Smith for all he has done for Haydn.
Haydn has subsequently been sustained through key support from helpful private benefactors and annual support provided to him as the designated “elite” athlete in his sport through the Barbados National Sports Council. A gap however remains in the required annual budget for a viably competitive touring professional. This exhibition event will contribute significantly to ensuring that Haydn will be able to continue to train and compete at more tour events with the necessary coaching support present. His chances of rising in the rankings will thereby be considerably enhanced.
As a young boy growing up, Haydn has always had a keen ball sense and has always wanted to be a Tennis player. To this day, it is still Haydn’s dream to play at one of the world great Grand Slam Tournaments.
